We have an incredible team of tutors and educators. Read about them, our founder, and our affiliate company.
In 2019, I founded Victory Tutoring Ok with a very specific idea in mind. I wanted my business to be a benefit to the community I grew up in. I wanted to give people who didn't have access to educational resources or private instruction an avenue to knowledge. After all, knowledge is power.
When I was a teenager, someone gave me that gift. Someone gave me access to a resource that poor people often don't have the luxury of spending money on, private tutoring. I had a tutor who could have charged $50 or more per hour per student. He charged my mother less than half of that for two students. We never could have afforded it if he wasn't so willing to meet us where we were at and work with us. More importantly, I never would have made it to college without him, I would never have become a tutor, and I wouldn't be pursuing my Ph.D. in the psychology of learning. He had a meaningful impact on the trajectory of my life. That is what I want to do for the people of Tulsa and the surrounding area. That is why we offer a pay scale based on the ability to pay. We also have a scholarship fund for students who can't afford it on their own. It's called the David Mayfield Scholarship Fund, after the tutor who helped me.
At Victory Tutoring Ok, we employ a philosophy we call RISE:
Recognize the problem
Institute a team
Strengthen the foundation
Encourage a love of learning

We take each student as a whole. We don't just factor in grades and assessments, we also factor in confidence issues, possible learning disorders, social and performance anxiety, familial and social pressures, and all of the things that might hinder learning. At VTO, it's not just about short-term success. It's about building a foundation that will carry the student throughout their academic career. It's about changing the student's mindset about learning so that learning becomes fun.
Our curriculum was built by our founder, Rachel Hough, over 12 years as a professional tutor. She has specialized in helping students with learning disabilities, behavioral problems, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, and autism. With that experience, she created a curriculum that focused on including learners who have a hard time learning in the classroom setting.
Every student is different and comes with their own set of needs. Set up a consultation today to discuss your specific needs.
